From Her is a collection of accessories that voice female thought and representation, focusing in on music and pop culture.
As a response to mainstream songs in American pop culture of the 1960’s, each piece in this line was birthed as a reaction to songs from 1961-68, all but one reaching the top 20 in Billboard’s Hot 100.
From Her is a connection between previous generations of women and the present, through the style of design and era of music used.
This project began with the From Her Zine, which combined vintage imagery and modern lyrics from current female singer-songwriters. After presenting the zine to my design professor, she was inspired to create a Spotify playlist of vintage songs for my inspiration. After lots of listening, and research, this project was born.
